Hey, Hannah! Just throwing this out there, and I apologize in advance if this is something you’ve written about before, but…have you ever tried dry needling? I’ve had terrible muscle tension in my neck and right shoulder ever since a traumatic injury four years ago, and it causes horrible tension headaches. Sometimes the headaches last for days and Ibuprofen/heat/massage barely touches the pain. Anyway, I’ve been receiving dry needling in my shoulder for the last several weeks and it has made a world of difference for me. It feels like being kicked by a horse when the needle first hits the trigger point, but once the muscle relaxes, I get so much relief. If this is something you’ve already tried, so sorry, please disregard this comment! I do pray you find some relief 💛
Maribeth, you are so kind and gentle in the way you share your experience with dry needling. Thank you! It's not something I've looked into before, but I might discuss it with my doctor when I see her next week. Thank you for the suggestion. I'm really glad you found something that helps you! 🙂💕
Maribeth, want to hear something interesting?! Earlier this week I had an appointment with my nurse practitioner, and I was talking with her about my pain and sleep issues. She ended up writing me a prescription for physical therapy--and specifically for myofascial release and dry needling! 😲🤯 I'm not sure that I'm ready to try dry needling, but I thought it was fascinating that she brought it up all on her own, just a few days after you had mentioned it to me. 😊❤️
OH WOW!!! That's amazing! Physical therapy has been so helpful for me both times I've had it (both for my traumatic elbow injury and for this much milder, more recent shoulder injury), so I'm really glad to hear your NP wrote you a prescription for it. I've heard really good things about myofascial release, as well. I just had my last PT session yesterday, but the therapist told me I can still come in any time for the dry needling. He says I hold all my stress in my shoulders and thinks that regular (probably monthly) dry needling sessions will help me so much.
